The movie "State Fair" is a feel-good musical. Mr. and Mrs. Frake live on a farm in Iowa with their teenaged children, Margy (Jeanne Crain) and Wayne (Dick Haymes). Although the teens are already involved in relationships, both of their beaus are unable to accompany them to the annual state fair, so it's just the family of four who take off to meet their destinies. They set up camp in their trailer and spend the next several days in various pursuits. Mr. Frake enters his prized hog in a contest, while Mrs. Frake enters her pickles and her tasty mincemeat in contests. Love is definitely in the air as Margy catches the eye of a newspaper reporter and her brother is enamored with a singer. Lovesick Margy does some singing of her own with "It Might As Well Be Spring". Even the Frake hog becomes smitten with a nearby sow. When the fair is over, will these newfound loves last or become mere summer memories?
